Week 1 - Teacher Training

The largest problem with going online for all teachers is the varying degree in which teachers use technology. Most teachers use technology and are capable of doing most functions on a computer taught either through the years or learned in college. There are a few teachers that integrate technology in their everyday teaching and grow through the use of technology in their classroom. Then there are some teachers that deliver the content and use the technology that they are comfortable using. Lastly, there are teachers that don't use technology are not comfortable with it and see it as a burden instead of a gift.

I spent my first week trying to bridge the gap with teachers that were not comfortable with technology. I opened myself into creating resources that would help teachers become more effective in the online environment. I created videos showing how to do things people had questions about. I created a database for teachers to take math problems from. I had zoom calls to help teachers with basic email and advanced email usage.

Week 2 - Content

I first needed to work on content for my students in coding. I went to code.org which has a lot of resources to help students do things that would continue there studies. I had one student that had just started the course. I started him at the beginning of the course. Everyone else I started in a higher content. I made one unit due every week until the end of school. At first, it was difficult to get everyone on the same page. Once everyone was together in the right class, we were able to progress together. I had 12 people in the class. 6 people were actively doing the work the other 6 did not do any work. I had a zoom meeting for students that had issues with the content.

I also needed to come up with a plan for my in-class support Algebra classes. My plan was to continue to support the general education teacher through being on her zoom calls and making a zoom call where sped students could come and ask questions of me. Through the entire crisis we saw that students would do their work and others would not do anything.

To be continued...
