New Culture of Learning Reflection - Creating a Significant Learning Environment

The area where I work is surrounded by poverty and unsafe places for student. In my classroom the most important thing is for every student to feel safe inside the classroom. Safety can come in many ways, safe can mean more money, safe can mean a honest person, and safe can mean protection from outside influencers.

Safety is not the only factor that makes a significant learning environment. The content should be delivered all online. It is important for students to learn how to work in the new workplace. This means that the classroom should be completely connected and interactive, so students understand that the workplace is the same way.

Project Based Learning (PBL) is a vital way for students to understand how to do things and how to become better learners. PBL's are important for students to understand projects, because the workplace works in this respect where you don't get to pick the people you work with.

What does student-centered look like? Is it when student's do what they are told without being asked to do it? Is it when students learn from each other without the influence of an adult? The environment should be free with some rules. If you allow students to do whatever they want, you will have a classroom full of students relaxing and listening to music, while watching youtube, and flicking through their instastories. student-centered environment allows students to be themselves while learning from you and the other students in the room.
